Since being elected in 2022, Judge Hortick has brought justice, integrity, and bold leadership to the 225th District Court. Home of the Bexar County Children’s Courts, this bench demands a leader who can uphold the rule of law with fairness and compassion—and for the last several years, Judge Hortick has done just that.
But her passion for community service goes all the way back to her time in school. Judge Hortick was born and raised in San Antonio, graduated from Brackenridge High School, and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston. During her final year of college, she was hired as an aide to the late Senator Edward Kennedy. That opportunity opened her eyes to the power of community service and our responsibility to protect others, especially those who are most vulnerable.
After college, she returned home to San Antonio, earning her J.D. from St. Mary’s School of Law. She went on to open her own practice, where she focused significantly on cases within the Children's Court. She is dedicating herself to advocating for children and families.
Serving her community like this for many years, she knew she still could do more. When the previous judge of this court decided not to run for re-election, she recognized the perfect opportunity to further her commitment to the most vulnerable in our community.
Her meaningful experience and compassionate approach resonated with voters, leading to her successful election in 2022. Judge Hortick continues to lead the 225th District Court with a focus on equity, fairness, and the well-being of all Bexar County families, a safe future for our children.
